Deer Park High School shifts to remote learning effective immediately

WXIX |

The Deer Park Community School District is shifting to fully remote learning for its Jr./Sr. High school and hybrid learning for Amity Elementary, according to Superintendent Jay Phillips. Phillips’s cites county and state data on COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations and reproduction rates, but says ultimately what guided the decision is “what is happening in the walls of Deer Park Schools.”

Phillips says the high school has seen several positive COVID-19 cases in recent days. He adds he is seeing what he considers “active spread inside the building” for the first time.
