Students, families pulled to and fro as schools struggle with pandemic

As Southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky counties sear red in COVID-19 spread, school officials are analyzing the impact of the novel coronavirus pandemic on their students, faculty and staff. 

Cincinnati is closing its schools, while Boone County has reopened (though they closed abruptly on Friday). Decisions on how to deal with the accelerating pandemic are a local patchwork.

Nearly 1,000 school employees and 1,500 students have tested positive across the region since the school year began, an Enquirer tabulation of data from state and local officials shows.
