Ohio reports 2,991 new K-12 student cases and 1,736 staff cases for week of Thanksgiving

Potential holiday surge wouldn’t hit yet

The newly reported increase brings total numbers to 11,927 student cases and 7,375 staff cases. The increase is slightly higher than two weeks ago, when the state reported an increase of 2,795 student cases and 1,733 for staff.

The five Ohio school districts with the highest new student cases for the week of Nov. 23 are:

1. Dublin City Schools (Franklin), 71 new student cases, 20 new staff

2. Hilliard City Schools (Franklin), 61 new student cases, 44 new staff

3. Cincinnati Public Schools (Hamilton), 60 new student cases, 76 new staff

4. Olentangy Local Schools (Delaware), 53 new student cases, 9 staff

5. Lakota Local Schools (Butler), 39 new student cases, 22 staff

The 10 school districts with the highest new staff cases for that week are more scattered, geographically. About half are in Southwest Ohio, though Toledo City Schools is also on that list.

The five districts with the highest reported new staff cases are:

1. Cincinnati Public Schools (Hamilton), 60 new student cases, 76 new staff

2. Toledo City Schools (Lucas), 4 new student, 24 new staff

3. Lakota Local Schools (Butler), 39 new student cases, 22 staff

4. Dublin City Schools (Franklin), 71 new student cases, 20 new staff

5. Northwest Local (Hamilton), 18 new student cases, 17 new staff

These are some of the largest school districts in Ohio. Absent from the top of the list are both Columbus and Cleveland schools, other large, urban districts.
