‘This could not be a better day’: Middletown educators among first in Ohio to get COVID-19 vaccine

Middletown City School District’s custodial supervisor was the first school employee in Southwest Ohio – and one of the first in the state of Ohio – to receive the COVID-19 vaccine Wednesday morning.
John Thompson was joined by about 500 of the district’s nearly 900 employees who opted to get the vaccine, according to district spokesperson Elizabeth Beadle. There are about 6,300 students in 10 school buildings that make up the district, which serves Butler and Warren counties.
A small group of teachers in northern Ohio’s Medina County were the first in the state to be vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the Akron Beacon Journal. Gov. Mike DeWine announced a “rolling” plan to vaccinate Ohio’s educators on Tuesday, and confirmed Cincinnati Public Schools’s staff is scheduled to be inoculated Thursday.
Fairfield: Staff COVID-19 Vaccine and Remote Learning Days
The Fairfield City School District is pleased to announce that the COVID-19 vaccine will be available to all staff members who wish to receive it on Friday, February 5th. As part of a county-wide effort, we are partnering with Kroger and opening our buildings to be used as vaccination sites for our staff as well as another district in the county. The COVID-19 vaccine requires a second dose. This is scheduled for Friday, February 26th. Since our buildings will be used as vaccination sites, Friday, February 5th and 26th will be remote learning days for all students.
Hamilton City: Staff Vaccination – Remote Learning Day
The vaccination of almost 900 educators in Hamilton City Schools is scheduled for Friday, February 12, 2021. Due to the volume of educators included in the vaccination, the district will be conducting a ‘Remote Learning Day’ on Friday, February 12, 2021.
Lakota: Important COVID-19 Information: Staff Vaccination Feb. 3 & 24
Lakota will be partnering with Kroger to vaccinate not only our employees, but also other school districts in our county. Kroger has asked that Lakota West High School be used for this vaccination clinic Feb. 3-4.
Monroe: Staff Vaccination – Remote Learning Day
Monroe Local School District staff is scheduled to receive the first dose of the vaccination on Friday, February 5, 2021. School district staff must go offsite to our designated health partner between 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. to receive the shot.
Talawanda: Staff Vaccination – Remote Learning Day
The Talawanda School District staff will receive the first COVID-19 vaccination on Thursday, February 4, 2021. The vaccinations will be offered to our staff between 8 AM and 4 PM. Talawanda staff will need this day to travel to the identified vaccination site that will be out of the district. Talawanda School District will NOT provide transportation to Butler Tech, parochial, private, and other schools on February 4, 2021. Our bus drivers will also be vaccinated.
