‘It just felt like a way to do my part’: Kids step up for next step in vaccine research

Brian Hamrick, WLWT |

The study is the beginning of research looking at the safety and effectiveness of vaccines in those under 18. Children’s Hospital enrolled a couple hundred kids in the study looking at those 11 to 17.

“My impression is that the safety profile has been identical to the younger adults,” Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Dr. Robert Frenck said. Frenck headed up the Pfizer study at Children’s for adults and is now doing the same for Pfizer’s research on COVID-19 vaccines for children.

Pfizer is analyzing the initial data for that age group. Children’s will soon begin clinical trials on children ages five to 11.
