Sycamore teen speaks to lawmakers in favor of bill expanding insurance for hearing loss

WKRC |

Insurance does not cover hearing aids for children in Ohio, and a Sycamore High School freshman is doing what she can to change that.

Alexis Klugo was born with moderate hearing loss and wears hearing aids. Local 12 brought you her story in 2020 when she pleaded with lawmakers to pass a bill that would expand coverage to include hearing aids for children up to age 21. The measure is up for consideration again, and, once again, Klugo is speaking out in favor. It calls for each device to be covered up to $2,500 for 48 months.

House Bill 198 has been referred to the House Health Committee and its sponsors are confident it will make it through.
