NRHS’s robotics team makes history

On Feb. 15 the team became the first to represent NRHS in a robotics competition. They hoped to win at least one match at the competition.

They far exceeded their expectations winning 10th place out of 32 teams.

VEX Competitions are STEM-focused and task participants with designing and building a robot to play against other teams in a game-based engineering challenge.

Loveland High School (LHS) and Loveland Middle School (LMS) VEX Robotics teams competed at the Milford Invitational Tournament on Saturday, February 15, where one of the teams qualified for the Ohio Championship in March.

Batavia students head to FIRST LEGO League Challenge state competition

FIRST LEGO League Challenge is an annual, global competition. Each year, organizers release a Challenge that’s made up of three parts, which are a robot game, an innovation project and a core values element.

Teams of up to ten children, and at least two adult coaches, participate in the Challenge by programming an autonomous robot (built from LEGO bricks) to score points on a themed playing field, the robot game, creating a solution to an identified problem, the innovation project, and all the elements are to be guided by “FIRST Core Values.,” according to the FIRST LEGO League Challenge website.

They made history over the long weekend by being the first-ever NRHS Robotics Team to compete and finish 10th out of 32 teams at the VEX Robotics Competition held in Milford.

VEX Competitions are STEM-focused and task participants with designing and building a robot to play against other teams in a game-based engineering challenge. The objective of the game for the Feb. 15 competition is to attain a higher score than the opposing Alliance by placing cubes in towers and scoring cubes in goal zones.

Loveland: Two FIRST Tech Challenge teams will compete at the state championship in March

Loveland High School’s FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Teams 5040 (Nuts & Bolts) and 10464 (The Bionic Tigers) competed on January 25 at the Cincinnati Qualifier at Walnut Hills High School, where teams from Central and Southwest Ohio competed for three coveted advancement spots to the Ohio FTC Championship.

FIRST LEGO League competitions in Ohio and Kentucky

Ohio and Kentucky FIRST LEGO League championships were held this past weekend. An alliance between FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) and the LEGO Group, competitions are in over 100 countries.

Loveland: VEX Robotics competition

In the competition December 21st, teams of students will use their own designed and built robots to compete against other teams in a game-based engineering challenge. This year’s VEX Robotics game, “Tower Takeover,” is played on a 12’x12’ square field with the object of attaining a higher score than the opposing alliance by placing cubes in towers or scoring cubes in goals.
